Yea! The carpet and pad is out of the living room and dining room.

Remember, this is what it looked like: read on…

Interior Windows, Part 1

Letting in the Light

In ‘Our House’ we have several interior windows we’ve installed. This is the first one that I’m featuring in part 1 of this series.

When we first bought this house, the hall was very dark with no natural light source. Read on

Feedback Needed

We started this blog just about a month ago and I would love to get some direct feedback.

I’m excited about a new project I’ll be starting in January, if all goes as planned. So there will optimistically be a lot of blogging about the progress with that. (I hope to reveal the exciting project in a couple of days.)

I have a lot to share with you in the categories ‘Our House’, ‘Crafts’, and ‘DIY’, along with ‘Someone Else’s House’, which will actually be several different people’s houses that are either my friends, family or houses I’ve decorated.

Here is one of my big questions:

Do you prefer if I post continually about 1 project until it’s completed? (basically how I did the posts for The West Bedroom)

Or do you prefer for me to skip around, to keep it fresh? (Jumping from one project to another)

Check out my posts from the past 4 weeks and please give me any tips on my writing style, posts, or subjects you would love to hear about. Let me know what you liked, what you didn’t like and what you would like to see different. This is a really exciting adventure for me and I want it to be both fabulously entertaining and informative for you.

I think anyone, even if you don’t have a WordPress account can comment, but if you run into trouble, please email me directly at: decoratewithalittlebit@gmail.com

One thing I know I have to work on is taking better pictures. It’s definitely a work in progress. Unfortunately, I can’t blame the camera, it’s a nice one. It’s for sure me needing to learn more.

The only way I’m going to know what you want is if you tell me, so let’s hear it! Thank you!

We’re looking forward to the new year and all the possibilities that come with it,

Little Bit

Why we can all have a truly Merry Christmas.

“And she gave birth to her first-born son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

And in the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields, and keeping watch over their flock by night.

And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened.

And the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which shall be for all the people;

For today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths, and lying in a manger.”

And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest,

And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”

Luke 2:7-14

All Ready for Christmas Dinner…

Merry Christmas, let’s eat! So here it is, the Crate and Barrel inspired centerpiece. Beautiful on a Christmas dining table, but could easily be used any time of the year, minus the ‘snow’ and change up the evergreen boughs for something different, like maybe fern leaves, or fall leaves, or even small rocks and pebbles.

Remember, I was inspired by the picture in Crate and Barrel’s catalogue?  The picture with cut logs and votives… (see post: “A Little Bit More Inspiration from Crate and Barrel” for the picture).

Here’s how I (we) did ours:  Read on…

Old Cupboard Finally Finds New Life

This old cupboard came from the basement of a Victorian home we owned several years ago. In its former life it held canned goods in the cellar. It had no back and was an obvious ‘testing ground’ for paint as it had been painted light yellow with gold and green spray paint on part of it. At first glance it was hideous.  Read on…

Remember? This is what it was…

This is the dining room in ‘Someone Else’s House’. This picture shows the project part way through, they’ve already filled the holes in the walls, painted the woodwork bright white,  and prepped the top portion for the vintage wallpaper they will be hanging.

This is what it is… Read on
