Living Room: Lightening it up with new Window Treatments

As I addressed the living room at “Our House” in my quest to lighten it up, I knew that the window treatments were going to have to be changed. This is what they looked like:

I made these valances a few years ago, when I had more reds and greens in the room, with a lot more black accents. Fortunately, when I made these, instead of permanently mounting them to a board, I attached them to  a wide rod with Velcro, so that I could change them out, without having to re-do the rods.

This shows the rod with the Velcro stuck to it. So now, I can keep these rods up and mount the new window treatments to them.

This shows one of the new window treatments mounted on the same rod.  Isn’t it amazing how such a different colored fabric works so nicely with the same wall color still? (Tomorrow I’ll give you the tutorial of how I made these new window treatments)

I’m getting there, the room is really taking shape, and I’m loving the lighter side of it!

Ok, so the Pottery Barn bench/ottoman is done, the window treatments are done, now to black check rooster slipcovered chair and the end tables, oh and what about that sideboard the TV sits on…
