Someone Else’s House…A Sun-filled Front Sitting Room…Grand Finale! Finally the Whole Room Put Together, with a Few Details…

So here we are, one more look at the collage with all the pieces separated: Inspirational Sofa, Pair of Chairs, Rescued Antique Desk, Pier1 Painted Cabinet, Game Table, Vintage Stepback… and introducing a few extra details,

like this rug. Perfect for its color, mixing both black and blue with the red and gold. Perfect for its quality, hand knotted wool. And perfect for its size, it properly defines the seating area. (Yep, it’s totally ok to put a rug in a room that has carpet!)

And how about this cute detail? She had the plates, but alone they weren’t quite enough visual weight this corner needed. But then she found this gorgeous empty frame so we put the two together and TaDa!! Stunning!

And then there are these window treatments… ok, so these used to be in my house too, (like the stepback cupboard). I sew and love to create window treatments especially. I had these for a few years, but when it came time to change my window treatments, it happened to be the right time for my friend , to need some for her front room. If you didn’t know better, you’d think they were custom made for these windows and this room. The fabric and colors look beautiful, all she did was shorten the panels to fit in the cottage look of the room.

Ok, so I promised you I’d show everything together, so here goes:

This is the view from the front entry hall. In the left corner of this picture, you see the antique bookcase. The colorful paperbacks in it work wonderfully! Real life is we all have paperbacks, and the color scheme of this room totally gives way to the color collage that these books create in the wood shelves.

This is the view from the Dining Room doorway, (yes, we’re going to be able to tour her dining room too sometime in the future).

Then the front windows with the game table.

And finally from the doorway of the dining room looking towards the front entry.

Now can you imagine coming in that front door and being beckoned into this lovely room filled with sunlight and welcoming colors and furniture in a comfortable relaxed cottage styled room? I feel so fortunate that for me, that is a reality, not only because of the room itself, but because I have a very dear friend with welcoming arms inside the room.
