Monday’s Simple Cleverness…Oh the Fun to be Had with “Fun-Tac”
Well that’s what I call it, “Fun-Tac”, I don’t know, is that a brand name? or just what I thought package said? Let me explain what it is and what I do with it…
So this brand says “UHU tac”…I have no idea what UHU stands for? (Universal Holding Utility? I’m making that up, in case you couldn’t tell. )
This is the stuff that I’ve used for a long time for many clever little applications. It stays soft and really holds stuff in place. Like:
Remember this plate on my mantel? Well the plate holder actually opens wider than my mantel is deep, so to prevent it from slipping open too much and my antique platter crashing down, I did this:
The fun-tac holds the plate stand in place and doesn’t leave any sticky residue when I decide to move it.
Here you can sort of see the consistency of it. It’s stretchy and sticky, clings to most things really well but doesn’t leave any gooey stuff behind when you need to move. I love this stuff to give just a little bit of security to displays.
You’d never know the simple cleverness holding this in place, but it’s there.

It’s also great to keep your pictures hanging straight on the wall. Just put a small amount on the frame edge on the bottom center, hang pic and press to the wall. Great for earthquake territory.
I don’t live in earthquake land… but for sure have used it for that same use…
Sure like that mirror over our mantel. So different and awesome. I’ve never used UHU tac but it looks like other stuff I have used. Right now I could use some of that, don’t know if they even have it here.
I think it’s a great idea, but when I looked at how close the plate holder was to the edge I questioned whether I could be that brave. LOL.
Anyway, your mantle is lovely and now I’m going to go make another attempt to make mine presentable.
I can’t live without that product. Living in earthquake territory it’s a must!
Clever. I use that too when I really want to brace things.
smarty pants! xo
