Monday’s Simple Cleverness…Give Yourself Some Painting Grace

Maybe you all know this already, and I’m a slow learner…very, very possible. I know, though, when I had a professional painter give me this tip, it was like a lightbulb went on. Duh! So here is the tip:

When painting trim, if the walls are going to be painted as well, be generous  with the paint and actually apply the paint onto the wall adjacent to the trim.  That way, when you’re cutting in for the wall color, you have a little grace if you miss a little or the edge isn’t perfectly straight, it won’t show. So simple, yet so very helpful!

Just be sure to ‘feather’ the paint out on the wall so you don’t have a ridge line from the edge of the paint on the wall.

Plus you only need to ‘edge’ one thing, the wall, not the trim, which, as you can see, the trim at the “Little Brick Cottage” isn’t the easiest stuff to trim, so this tip really helps save time.

So go ahead, give yourself some grace, we can all use a little more of that in our lives, right?
