Little Brick Cottage…Gotta Mix it Up to Keep it Interesting

Just as I showed you how I mixed a few styles of hardware in my master bath, I did the same in the cottage kitchen too. I think mixing a few styles keeps it interesting. I’ll give you a little peek into my brain…I know, scary, huh? Well the way I figure out how to mix the hardware, as far as what goes where, is I create ‘rules’, then I can apply those rules to selecting specific styles.

So for instance my first rule was  that all the uppers would have a single knob on the doors.

My second rule then is that all the lower doors would have these handle pulls.

Which leaves the drawers, and so the third rule is all the drawers would have these bin pulls.

The actual hardware style is all a simple farmhouse style in a dark ORB finish. I found all the hardware online from Van Dyke’s Restorers, one of my favorite resources for hardware and wood accessories.

Sorry the kitchen isn’t ready for its debut…yet…soon, though!

  1. love the variety of your hardware. thanks for the numbers and prices. it’s so nice when someone will give the details in full. again, thanks.

  2. Cheers, I just stopped in to visit your blog and thought I’d say I enjoyed myself.

  3. would you share the order numbers of the cabinet hardware? Are they all the same finish?

    • Yes I will… Again the hardware I ordered from Van Dyke’s Restorers, and all called bronze finish, but I’ll warn you, not all bronze looks the same, so if you’re getting different brands or vendors, it can vary a lot!
The bin pulls (the ones on the drawers) are: #02012709 they were $8.99 each
The single knobs (the ones on the uppers) are: 1 1/4 inch diameter # 02012711 they were $7.99 each
The pulls (the ones on the lowers) are: 3″ bore #02012707 they were $5.99 each
With the prices however there was a huge discount on the total order so the prices I told you is the normal retail…watch for sales!
Good luck on your hardward shopping, hope this helps! Little Bit

  4. Very nice I like the choices you made.
