Someone Else's House… Stepback in Pewter

Let me take you back to my wonderful friend’s home. She has a pewter collection and has beautifully displayed some of the pieces in this antique stepback hutch.

This beautifully restored antique sits in her dining room. Click on the “Front Entry” and “Sun-filled Front Living Room” to link to a tour of each of these rooms that adjoins her dining room.

The early American styled pieces, either reproductions or period pieces, lend themselves to such warmth and coziness.

I love the real age showing on this antique ceramic knob. The details of the restored stepback cupboard, like this original hardware, and the simplistic grooved detail in the door, are so beautiful.

My friend’s knack for displaying is truly a talent. I love how she has the pieces layered and isn’t afraid to display beautiful pieces that have their age showing.

She changes out the display for Christmas…I’ll try to remember to get a picture to share with you. It’s stunning!

She has some lovely pewter pieces… the blue and white is wonderful too! Like her, I don’t mind a bit displaying a piece with obvious signs of age. To me it just means someone loved it enough to hold on to it all those years… and that just makes it even more special to me.

    What a great way to look at this! When I was younger I was hesitant to display chips, cracks and the like. As I have aged I feel more free to let that all show. Maybe because I don’t want to be judged negatively for my own signs of wear!
