To Be Continued…

I am taking a tiny blogging break. I have another project going right now and I’m just not able to blog and manage the project as well, so I’m taking a little break, while I try to get my “project ducks in a row”, then I’ll be back.

And as usual, I’ll link my new posts on Facebook, (so be sure to like my DecorateWithaLittleBit Facebook fan page to get notified), Linky Followers and if you subscribe via email, you’ll get an email notification from me with the new posts.

So, stay tuned, I hope to be back in a few weeks, and I’ll share a little from my new project with you!        Little Bit

Blast From the Past… Our House Dining Room Series: Our House… Dining Room Table… Finally!

Since it’s summertime with more folks taking time for vacation and travel, and well, because I’m in the midst of another remodeling project that is taking all my time and energy, and since I have a ton of new followers that possibly haven’t read about the dining room, (thank you!!) I thought it’d be fun to revisit some stuff I wrote at the beginning of when I started to blog… (sounds like a long time ago, but was actually less than a year ago) anyway, for the next few times I’ll be re-playing the series I did on the dining room at ‘Our House’…

This has been a long time coming. I started to show you a tour of our “garage turned dining room” in January, but then I was delayed in showing this corner because it’s where I had tons of stuff stored for renovations on the “Little Brick Cottage”, but finally, it’s ready to be seen by blogland!

Finally you can get the Read on…

Blast From the Past… Our House Dining Room Series: This Rescued Bench Hides a Huge Boo-Boo…Can you Guess Where?

Since it’s summertime with more folks taking time for vacation and travel, and well, because I’m in the midst of another remodeling project that is taking all my time and energy, and since I have a ton of new followers that possibly haven’t read about the dining room, (thank you!!) The dining room shares a space for the main entry into “Our House”, so to have a designated place to sit and put boots and shoes on is very convenient. Read on…

Blast From the Past… Our House Dining Room Series: Baker’s Table: Re-purposing is No New Thing for It.

Since it’s summertime with more folks taking time for vacation and travel, and well, because I’m in the midst of another remodeling project that is taking all my time and energy, and since I have a ton of new followers that possibly haven’t read about the dining room, (thank you!!) A while ago, I started showing you the dining room at ‘Our House’, but then I was delayed because there was a pile of supplies for ‘The Little Brick Cottage’ in a huge section of the dining room. Well, I’m sooooooo glad to say that pile is gone, because the cottage is done, (be sure to watch for ‘reveals’ of each room of the cottage over the next few weeks) and now I can continue with the rest of the dining room tour.

Many years ago, I bought this baker’s table at a garage sale.

I think this is a Read on…

Blast from the Past: Monday's Simple Cleverness, When Depression Screams at You, Ice it!

Here is a trick I learned a long time ago, I don’t recall where I originally heard of this trick, but I’ve used it for many years, and it works every time.

You know those depressions left behind in the rugs and carpets when you move a piece of furniture, screaming back at you that a piece of furniture used to sit there? Well no worries, just Read on…

Blast From the Past… Our House Dining Room Series: Dining Room Stepback Cupboard

We’re getting closer to the dining table in the Dining Room Tour of “Our House”, the delay has been because the table is still full of lighting and plumbing fixtures for “The Little Brick Cottage”, but I hope the cottage will be ready for these items real soon. When it is, I promise, I’ll show you our dining table in this room too.

But today, I’m going to show you this tall French styled cupboard I bought from Ballard Designs on clearance!

The style and size of this stepback cupboard seemed perfect for this corner, and black is the main accent color in our dining room, so when I saw this in Ballard’s ‘estate sale’ for Read on…

Bayfield, Wisconsin, Part 3: Houses, Inns and Cottages

Well here it is, finally, the post featuring some of the houses, inns and cottages nestled in the hills and on the shore of Bayfield, WI which sits on the shores of Lake Superior.

(In the last week I showed you some street scenes and some buildings that caught my eye in Bayfield.)

Of course, I have to start with the famous Rittenhouse Inn. A gorgeously maintained Victorian inn, and fun place to stay, but if you’re thinking of staying there during Apple-fest, the first weekend of October,  READ ON…

Our House: Views of the Back and River

If you’ve followed along with me on this blog this summer, then you’ve probably seen this picture before, it’s a picture of our new porch that used to be a pergola, and it gives you a starting point for the tour of the back of ‘Our House’.

From this point of the picture, here are your bearings:

Straight through those French doors is our dining room, and entry area, and rest of ‘Our House’ beyond.

Behind you is more paved driveway and a large reproduction shed/barn/garage and the apple orchard beyond that. (Yet another couple of posts…) And the Willow River is down to your right.

To your front left is the front garden I showed you last time.

To your right is the back garden, with a small deck and boardwalk and then below is a screened porch, patio & outdoor kitchen with steps bordered by a meandering water feature with 3 ponds and unique waterfalls that follows the hill down. (I’ll do a post on just that later.) But for now, here’s that back deck leading to the steps down to the lower patio and screened porch: READ ON…

Bayfield, Wisconsin, Part 2: Public Buildings

Recently, in the ‘Neighborhood Tours’ I introduced you to Bayfield, WI, a tiny town nestled at the top of the state on the shores of Lake Superior, where we drove last week, to celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary, just by spending some simple, quiet time together in this quaint little town.

The town sits on the steep wooded hills of Wisconsin and comes down to a point at the shores of Lake Superior.  With several churches, the woods and skyline are sprinkled with steeples. READ ON…

Monday’s Simple Cleverness… More on Cord Controls

A few months back, I talked about some cord controls/cover ups that I had discovered when we installed a sound system in our living room at ‘Our House’.

Well today, I’m glad to say… (about time!) I’ve finally completed installing the cord controls behind our new television.  If you were around in February, you saw our living room just after we got our new television set and the mess of cords showing, if not, here is that messy picture again: READ ON…
