Someone Else’s House: Amazing Closet Transformation

DecorateWithaLittleBit.com before and after closet collage

When I showed you this young couple’s stairs and the clever numbered treatment they did to them, I mentioned that they were working on transforming this closet.

It sits across the landing from the stairs, between the kitchen and living room of this antique bungalow home they bought a few months ago. Since then, they’ve been busy transforming it into click here to read the rest of the story…

Our House: Family Room Canning Jar Chandelier

1 1 chandy off

This canning jar chandelier was super simple to make, thanks to World Market!

Last year I wrote about the canning jar pendant lights I made for over the peninsula in the kitchen of the ‘Little Brick Cottage’ In case you missed that, here’s a quick pic of those: click here to read the rest of the story…

Simple Cleverness… How to Hang a Wall Mounted Lamp on Sheetrock Wall

Here’s a super simple tute on hanging a wall mounted lamp on a sheetrock wall.

First, let’s start with the dark corner:

Here is a dark corner in the family room at ‘Our House’ with a sad little lamp sitting in the chair just waiting to be used to it’s full potential.  I have been busy actually doing tons and tons of changes to the family room and I’m still in the midst of the projects, but let’s get this swing arm lamp up on the wall so it can feel better about life.

So here is the simple cleverness tute. click here to read the rest of the story…

Why a Roman Shade with Cafe Panels was the Right Choice

The other day I showed you the ‘Anthropologie’ inspired bathroom. In that room we made a roman shade with coordinating café panels.

By cleverly mounting the roman shade way above the actual top of the window trim, it instantly tricks the eye into believing the window is larger! (I am always amazed with that trick!)  click here to read the rest of the story

Window Treatments in the Master Bedroom, How I Accomplished Form and Function

All of the windows in ‘Our House’ are treated according to what the privacy and light control needs (function) are for each space, as well as treated for the aesthetic quality (form). In most cases it’s difficult to accomplish all those needs with only one treatment per window. Usually, I have a treatment for the privacy and light control, and a separate treatment for the ‘look’.

Monday’s Simple Cleverness… More on Cord Controls

A few months back, I talked about some cord controls/cover ups that I had discovered when we installed a sound system in our living room at ‘Our House’.

Well today, I’m glad to say… (about time!) I’ve finally completed installing the cord controls behind our new television.  If you were around in February, you saw our living room just after we got our new television set and the mess of cords showing, if not, here is that messy picture again: READ ON…

The last couple of days I’ve been showing you a few things I’ve done to refurbish one of the units in our duplex that’s located in NW Wisconsin. (It’s just been rented, so no longer available, however I may have another super cute one opening up in September)

2 bedroom duplex

So far I’ve shown you how we cut the doorways in a bedroom to create the dining room with a more open floor plan, as well as the yellow and white kitchen with aqua accents and open shelving cupboard.

So today I thought I’d show you the bathroom and some changes we’ve made to it… so, here’s the before: READ ON…

One of Our Rentals… Vintage, Cottage Style Duplex… Open Cabinets and Inspiration for Aqua

Here’s a brief collage of what I’ve been working on the past few weeks as I’ve been renovating it and getting some things up to date:

2 bedroom duplex

Yesterday I told you how we changed it from a 3 bedroom to a 2 bedroom, but in sacrificing that third bedroom we gained so much more, a dining room and a much more open floor plan.

Today I’m going to tell you about my choice for a color scheme and the inspiration behind it, and how I implemented this fun color scheme.

I could call this post ‘1 Gallon of Paint for 3 Rooms’ or ‘1 Fabric Inspires All’… because it was one piece of fabric that inspired the whole thing, here it that fabric: READ ON…
