Blast From the Past… Our House Dining Room Series: Our House… Dining Room Table… Finally!

Since it’s summertime with more folks taking time for vacation and travel, and well, because I’m in the midst of another remodeling project that is taking all my time and energy, and since I have a ton of new followers that possibly haven’t read about the dining room, (thank you!!) I thought it’d be fun to revisit some stuff I wrote at the beginning of when I started to blog… (sounds like a long time ago, but was actually less than a year ago) anyway, for the next few times I’ll be re-playing the series I did on the dining room at ‘Our House’…

This has been a long time coming. I started to show you a tour of our “garage turned dining room” in January, but then I was delayed in showing this corner because it’s where I had tons of stuff stored for renovations on the “Little Brick Cottage”, but finally, it’s ready to be seen by blogland!

Blast from the Past…Our House Dining Room Series, Shedding a Little (more) Light

Shedding a Little (more) Light

I love, love, love track lighting! When you change things around in the house as much as I do, the ability to move around light fixtures that easily is an amazing ability.

One little, but very wonderful, track light fixture I have found is this chandelier adapter. At Menards they’re around $7 or $8.

You can transform almost any chandelier into Read on…

Wedding Reception… North Carolina Style in the Pavillion… Lighting up a Magical Night

Earlier this summer I went to North Carolina to take part in helping decorate for a friend’s daughter’s wedding and reception.

Both the wedding and reception were held outside on the groom’s parent’s property. Some of the tables were on the dock, some on the patio just outside the pavilion and some Read on…

Blast From the Past… Our House Dining Room Series, Moving up the Ladder

Our House: Moving Up the Ladder in the Dining Room, Chapter 4

Over the seating area in the dining room, I have a track light, but you don’t notice it because I have a ladder hung from chains and hooks underneath the track light.

I can’t take all the credit, (or any of the credit :) ) I originally saw this idea of a ladder hanging at Read on…

Our House: This Antique Chandelier Looks like the Crowning Glory…

We bought ‘Our House’ 16 years ago. At the time it, being built in the late 80’s, it was a fairly plain walkout ranch style home without much character. I immediately set into changing that.

Little by little, as we budgeted, (sometimes, my budget differed from my husband’s) I’ve been working at transforming every square foot, inside and out, into a house filled with character.

One of the ways I’ve added character is by working in actual vintage & antique elements, like what I did with the landing chandelier:

Ballard Designs Light on Clearance! Perfect… almost.

A couple days ago I showed you the round wicker side table I’ve had for many years and recently refreshed with a ‘bird painting’ on it. Well above that table is this light I bought from Ballard Designs on clearance:

I love checking the ‘estate sale’ at BallardDesigns.com and happened upon this light… READ ON…

Our House… Evening Under the Pergola

We have several porches at ‘Our House’. One of those porches is more like a patio, I’m not sure what designates the difference, but whatever you want to call it, ours has a pergola on it.

My husband and I built it ourselves. The columns are ‘load bearing’ fiberglass type material.  We got them from Menard’s. They’re lightweight, but durable, and cheaper than wood ones, (which wouldn’t have been a good choice directly on the concrete slab anyway) These columns are also Read the rest of this entry

Little Brick Cottage: Dining Room, My Favorite… No… One of My Favorites!

Hmmm…

What to write about today…do you want to see another piece of furniture from ‘Our House’ or, are you more in the mood for another room reveal from ‘The Little Brick Cottage’?

Ok, Little Brick Cottage wins today! (I know, the title gave it away.)

So far I’ve revealed the entry and living room at the little brick cottage. So what’s for today??? It’s my favorite room, (I think… although the back entry is a very close 2nd, and I have to admit that I love the kitchen, especially that window over the sink, and oh, those cubbies in the bathroom turned out really cute…) So let’s just say, it’s one of my favorite rooms.

Enough! Here is the dining room looking from the living room we just finished showing you:

You can see in the dining room has the same maple flooring as the living room, which we found hiding under the carpet. And you can see that the dining room radiator got the same bronze treatment as the living room’s.

Wanna see a pic of the dining room before again? Well, sure you do! Read on…
