Five Days to an Easter Centerpiece, Day 2

1 1 1 5 days title cropped

Welcome back to Day 2 in the 5 day series hopefully inspiring you to create some Easter fun at your house. Yesterday I showed you how I made the ‘peat-pots-turned-antique-paper-mache-looking-planters’.

Today, it’s all about texture.

I love texture, and lately I’ve been occupied with decorating with texture, almost in place of color. So for this Easter centerpiece tablescape, I was thrilled when I pinned these jute covered eggs from Posed Perfection on my Pinterest Easter board for the inspiration.

So here are the eggs I made for the dining table at ‘Our House’:

1 2 jute egg

The chunky jute gives incredible texture to the eggs in the tin basket.

I finished them with a vintage ribbon bow in a bright green and chocolate brown stripe.

In a nutshell… (er should I say eggshell?)  Here are the simple steps to making the jute covered eggs. click here to read the rest of the story…

DIY Shower Curtain From Leftovers!

In the bathroom downstairs at ‘Our House’, we have a large shower. The bathroom has shades of blues, greens and browns with white accents. I wanted a new shower curtain for it, but I really didn’t want to spend any money on it. So… what else? Go to the craft closet and pull out fabric possibilities. There is a large stack of leftovers from old projects. (If you really want to see a picture of that closet, click here. It kinda looks like a mess, but I do know where everything is… well mostly)

Now back to the lower level bathroom, here’s a quick peek at the before and after.

Before: (boring. Although I will re-use this vinyl curtain liner to line the new fabric one.)

And here’s the after: (fun!! Colorful, ties the room together, and totally free!) Read More…
